USAGE The client can be used in various ways, but here's an example using the Xvnc server: # Xvnc :50 -auth /var/tmp/authfile & # xdmcp -k2 -v -D`uname -n`:50 -A/var/tmp/authfile xdm-server By default the client will check the DISPLAY and XAUTHORITY environment variables and use those values if you don't supply the -D and -A flags. XDMCP protocol XDMCP (X Display Manager Control Protocol) uses UDP port 177. An X server requests a session to be started on it by sending a Query packet to the display manager. If the display manager allows access for that X server, it responds by sending a Willing packet to the originator. GDM and XDMCP configuration for remote graphical Linux desktop access.
